Mumbai, Oct 4: Actor Sanjay Dutt has responded to social media criticism regarding a recent television appearance, affirming that his comments about seeking peace were strictly part of a scripted routine and not meant to disrespect any institution or community.
In an official statement released on Sunday, the star declared that the conversation on Shekhar Tonite was designed around satire and goodwill. He asserted that the spirit behind his remarks aligned with the message of harmony popularized by his ‘Gandhigiri’ cinematic role. Dutt maintained that the segment was misunderstood when viewed outside the show’s satirical framing, reasserting his deep regard for the country and its people.
The clarification followed widespread online discussions after clips from the interview began circulating. On the program, Dutt stepped into his well-known ‘Munna Bhai’ character to outline an imaginative vision of leadership, asserting that true governance should focus on unity, brotherhood, and national pride. He stated that he would choose to remain within the nation to serve the public rather than traveling abroad, while placing Mahatma Gandhi’s principles at the forefront of societal values.
