SHIMLA, 23 June — Three men were injured when the car they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge late Sunday night near Dattakandi village in Chopal subdivision of Shimla district, officials confirmed Monday.

The injured have been identified as Digvijay Singh, who was driving the vehicle, along with Sunny and Erik Meta. All three hail from Deha in Theog, Shimla.

According to initial reports, the accident occurred when Digvijay lost control of the vehicle on a sharp bend. Locals spotted the wreckage and promptly alerted police and emergency services. Residents assisted in the rescue operation, helping extract the occupants from the severely damaged vehicle.

“They were first taken to the Civil Hospital in Chopal and later referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla for advanced treatment,” said a local official involved in the rescue.

Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Gaurav Singh confirmed the incident. “A case has been registered under Section 125 A of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for endangering life of others,” he said, adding that an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.

Doctors at IGMC have not yet issued an official statement on the condition of the injured.
