Agra, July 1: A family journey ended in an absolute disaster in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district after a speeding sleeper bus bound for Bihar collided with an Ertiga car and rolled off the elevated lanes of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. The pre-dawn collision left five car occupants dead on impact, leaving an additional eight individuals hospitalized with varying degrees of physical trauma.
Zonal police units reached the accident grounds quickly to extricate trapped passengers from the mangled wreckage of both vehicles. The victims who lost their lives at the scene were identified as Dhunmun, sixty, Anju, forty, Divya, six, Amrita, thirteen, and the driver Vinod, forty-five. Authorities affirmed that the bodies have been transferred to the district mortuary facility for mandatory post-mortem examinations while families receive administrative counseling.
The primary transport vehicle, which had originated its journey from Haryana, struck the family car before losing its tracking path completely along the high-speed transit corridor. Investigating teams maintained that fatigue remains the most plausible explanation for the sudden loss of vehicle control. Bangarmau Circle Officer Harsh Modi declared that initial evidence points to the possibility of the operator falling asleep at the wheel, though teams are actively looking at additional data points.
Senior state representatives visited the medical facility to oversee the clinical management of the eight injured survivors, who remain under close observation. District Magistrate Ghanshyam Meena asserted that necessary legal actions and field assessments have been initiated on the ground. Meena declared that patrolling teams have been directed to enforce stricter speed compliance and driver alertness checks across the expressway network to prevent similar fatal encounters.
