CHANDIGARH: Vendors seeking to sell eco-friendly firecrackers in Chandigarh have been granted an extended window to apply for temporary retail licences for the upcoming festival season. The UT Administration announced that its online service portal will begin accepting digital application forms from September 7 at 9:00 AM, with the submission window remaining open until September 12 at 5:00 PM. The streamlined process allows traders to complete registration procedures and upload required site documentation remotely.

To align with anti-pollution mandates, the administration affirmed that only CSIR-NEERI approved eco-friendly green crackers will be allowed for sale within municipal limits. Following the completion of online processing and payment of a ₹500 non-refundable fee, the district administration will conduct a public draw of lots at Bal Bhawan, Sector 23, on September 14 at 4:00 PM to allocate temporary retail slots.

Senior administration personnel stated that detailed instructions and site requirements are available on the government web portal to ensure seamless processing for traders. Officials declared that unauthorized firecracker sales or compliance violations will invite strict legal action from law enforcement agencies. The standardized licensing framework reflects the administration’s commitment to maintaining eco-friendly festive standards while offering transparent business opportunities to local vendors.
