Chandigarh, August 8: A comprehensive development strategy involving the acquisition of 1,750 acres of farmland across 22 villages is currently under active consideration by the Chandigarh Administration.
Projected at an investment of Rs 14,000 crore, the proposal allocates 1,195 acres for commercial and residential zoning alongside 555 acres earmarked for institutional use, while preserving 835 acres as permanent green zones.
Farmer delegations recently approached the UT Administrator to advocate for a land pooling structure modeled on neighboring states. Representatives asserted that implementing clear land-use regulations will systematically resolve historical Lal Dora boundary challenges across local villages and streamline modern infrastructure delivery.
To ensure community participation, administrative officials confirmed that localized farmer committees will be established in each village to collect feedback on the initial draft. The finalized framework will be submitted to central authorities for final approval before execution begins.
