Voters Back ‘Politics of Work’ in Punjab: Kejriwal

Government guarantees even development following municipal election triumph

by TheReportingTimes

CHANDIGARH, MAY 30 — High dynamic performance in Punjab’s urban local body elections has consolidated the Aam Aadmi Party’s governance strategy just months before the state heads to assembly polls.

The municipal election results declared Friday showed the ruling party winning over 90 percent of municipal councils, replicating its previous success in rural panchayat, samiti, and zila parishad elections. Senior party officials described the outcome as an absolute endorsement of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s developmental agenda and a clear public stance against central intervention.

“The people of Punjab have once again endorsed the work of the AAP government,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, reviewing the consecutive electoral successes from the assembly to the local level. Mann asserted that the administration remains committed to a development-oriented approach, promising that “every city, town and village will witness equal development” moving forward.

National leadership echoed the sentiment, focusing heavily on the intersection of local commerce and political accountability. AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal declared that the mandate proves the party’s organizational strength inside urban centers, reversing older assumptions about its political reach.

“I want to wholeheartedly congratulate and thank the people of Punjab for placing such immense trust in the Aam Aadmi Party and in the work being done by the party,” Kejriwal affirmed. He noted that the urban electorate actively protected local interests by rejecting parties associated with aggressive central enforcement actions against small traders and businessmen.

The party explicitly warned the business community of potential political repercussions from central authorities following the opposition’s defeat. Kejriwal maintained that specific regulatory bodies might coordinate new actions against state merchants, declaring, “After the civic election results declared on Friday, the ED Party is planning ED raids against several traders in the coming days. All traders should remain alert.”

The broader leadership team emphasized the ethical dimensions of the election narrative. Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia stated that the massive forfeiture of opposition candidate deposits demonstrated that the regional electorate favors stable governance over disruptive political strategies.

“This is not just an electoral victory,” Sisodia maintained. “It is a clear message from the people of Punjab that they will not stand with politics of betrayal and deceit. They will stand with honesty and with politics focused on work.”

Senior leader Saurabh Bharadwaj supported this perspective, describing the voting pattern as a natural reaction to heavy administrative pressure from central authorities over the past two months. Bharadwaj stated that persistent investigations directed at legislative members and government departments ultimately unified residents in support of the sitting state administration.
