Warring Says ‘Conspiracy’ Aims to Derail Congress in Punjab

by TheReportingTimes

CHANDIGARH, Dec. 10 — Punjab Congress president Amrinder Raja Warring on Tuesday said the controversy triggered by Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s allegations is part of a “conspiracy” to weaken the party and divert attention from the Aam Aadmi Party’s alleged misuse of the police during the zila parishad and block samiti elections.

“This entire controversy has been created to divert public attention and shift the discourse from the AAP’s brutal abuse of police force,” Warring said. “When everyone was talking about police misuse and AAP had no answers, attention was instantly diverted with sensational claims that have no base or truth.”

Warring said forces outside and within the party were attempting to destabilise the Congress in Punjab. “The conspiracy aimed at weakening the Congress will be defeated,” he said.

He added that both the BJP and AAP were “masters in diverting attention,” arguing that the timing of the allegations was designed to derail criticism of the ruling party’s conduct in the ongoing local body election process.

Warring has been given charge by the Congress leadership to manage indiscipline in the state unit as the high command seeks clarity on the allegations and the internal turmoil surrounding Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s suspension.
