Chandigarh, Oct 12: In another major foreign investment for Punjab, French dairy and nutrition giant Danone-Nutricia has announced a ₹356-crore project aimed at strengthening the state’s agri-food industry. The initiative, facilitated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government, will focus on building a modern production facility and supporting local dairy farmers through capacity building and training.
Officials said the company plans to train over 5,000 dairy farmers in best practices including milk quality improvement, animal nutrition and sustainable production methods. The move is expected to generate large-scale employment while boosting the quality and productivity of Punjab’s dairy sector.
With this expansion, Danone-Nutricia will upgrade its existing base in Lalru and develop a new state-of-the-art unit for nutrition products. Government sources said the project will further Punjab’s aim of becoming an “Agri-Food Innovation Hub.”
The Mann government highlighted that the state has drawn more than ₹1.25 lakh crore in investments since 2022, creating 4.5 lakh jobs. “Global companies like Danone-Nutricia choosing Punjab shows that the world trusts our policies and sees potential in our people,” said Bhagwant Mann.
Officials added that the government’s transparent policies and ease-of-doing-business reforms are driving Punjab’s return to agricultural prosperity and industrial growth. The project is expected to reinforce Punjab’s global image as both an agrarian and industrial destination.
