MUMBAI, May 21: Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma triggered widespread outrage on Wednesday over a vulgar social media post about actress Kiara Advani’s bikini appearance in the teaser of the upcoming film ‘War 2’.
Commenting on the teaser, Varma wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“Instead of our countries and societies, if the war between Hrithik and Jr NTR is on who gets her b**k, then 2 will be a b*buster.”
The post was swiftly condemned as sleazy and objectifying, especially on Reddit and other social media platforms. One user said, “This man has straight up gone to down bad sleazy levels,” while another added, “He lost it many years ago.”
Following intense criticism, Varma deleted the post from his account.
Meanwhile, Kiara Advani chose to focus on the positives, sharing her excitement for the project on Instagram Stories. “Lots of firsts in this. First YRF film. First action film. First with these two amazing heroes. First collaboration with Ayan. And of course, first bikini shot,” she wrote.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, ‘War 2’ stars Hrithik Roshan returning as Kabir, with Jr NTR joining the cast in a pivotal role. The film is scheduled for release on August 14, in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
