Zirakpur Civic Official Assaulted in Apparent Targeted Attack

by TheReportingTimes

Zirakpur, June 13 – In a suspected premeditated assault, Zirakpur Municipal Council water supply and sewerage inspector Ram Gopal Singla was attacked by four unidentified individuals while returning home from a meeting on Thursday evening, police said.

The incident occurred on Panchkula Road, in front of Sohi Banquet, where Singla’s vehicle was intercepted and vandalized by men reportedly armed with iron rods. The attackers, travelling in a white Hyundai i20, damaged his car and left Singla with a fractured arm.

“He was rushed to Ojas Hospital in Panchkula for treatment. His condition is currently stable,” a police official from Zirakpur said.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers appeared to have been waiting in the vicinity and launched the assault as soon as Singla’s car passed. “It looked like they knew exactly who they were targeting and when,” said a witness who declined to be named.

Singla was returning from a meeting related to an ongoing court case involving Urban Vatika Society, located on Panchkula Road. While the connection between the case and the attack remains speculative, officials have not ruled out any angles.

“We are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify the suspects. Initial indications suggest the attack was planned,” the investigating officer added.

As of Friday, police had not made any arrests. The motive behind the assault is under investigation.
