Mohali Court Pulls Up Three SHOs

by TheReportingTimes

MOHALI, July 5 — A Mohali court has issued show cause notices to the Station House Officers (SHOs) of Balongi, Kharar, and Zirakpur police stations, seeking explanation for their failure to comply with legal obligations during ongoing judicial proceedings.

The court warned that non-compliance could attract legal action for willful disobedience of judicial directions and for dereliction of duty potentially resulting in harm to concerned individuals. The notices mandate all three officers to appear in person before the court within two days of receipt.

In one instance, the Balongi SHO and Investigating Officer were directed to produce case records, but neither complied nor offered any explanation for the lapse. “Despite clear directions, the record was not placed before the court and no response was received,” the court observed.

A similar failure was noted on the part of the Kharar City SHO, who was instructed to submit documents related to a woman’s bail plea. The court reiterated that the record must be produced within 48 hours, warning that any delay or absence of clarification would be considered deliberate non-compliance.

The Zirakpur SHO and Investigating Officer were also pulled up for not furnishing documents pertaining to a bail application filed by one Nagendra Kumar.

“The repeated absence of case records and lack of accountability from the concerned officers suggest a serious disregard for judicial procedure,” the court noted. It further stated that such conduct undermines the integrity of legal proceedings and will not be tolerated.

The notices underline the judiciary’s firm stance against procedural negligence and signal potential disciplinary or legal consequences if the officers fail to justify their actions.
