Teen Dies in Hit-and-Run Near Lalru Toll Plaza

Lalru, July 11 —A 17-year-old boy riding pillion on a motorcycle was killed in a hit-and-run near the Dappar toll plaza in Lalru, after a car rammed into the two-wheeler from behind and fled the scene, police said on Thursday.

The car, bearing registration number HR08 A 1400, struck the motorcycle from the rear, causing both riders to fall. The pillion rider succumbed to his injuries, while the rider survived the crash.

“The two boys were riding near the toll plaza when a car hit them. One of them survived, but the other succumbed to his injuries,” said Investigating Officer Amandeep Lehli.

Police have traced the car involved and registered a case under Sections 324 (mischief) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The identity of the driver remains unknown. A search is underway to locate and arrest the accused.
