Nuh (Haryana), July 14– Tension simmered in Tauru town of Nuh district after a mazar in Sainipura mohalla was damaged late Sunday night by unidentified miscreants, just hours before the scheduled Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra. In response, district authorities deployed heavy police forces at the site and in surrounding areas to maintain order.
“Necessary action is being taken by the administration in connection to the damage caused by some miscreants in Tauru,” said Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena. “It will be ensured that the Jalabhishek Yatra is organised in a peaceful and harmonious environment in the district.”
DC Meena said sub-divisional magistrates have been directed to make all required security arrangements in their respective areas. Duty magistrates and police officers have also been stationed at sensitive locations to ensure calm. Devotees have begun arriving at temples to participate in Jalabhishek and prayers.
“SDM Tauru Jitendra Garg and DSP Devendra Singh have spoken to members of all communities in the area. There is an atmosphere of peace,” Meena added. “The general public is appealed to trust only the official information.”
A senior police official confirmed that the yatra will commence from Nalheshwar temple in Nalhar, Nuh, and said devotees are reaching temples across the district in significant numbers.
The developments come in the shadow of last year’s violence on July 31, 2023, when six people—including two home guards and a mosque cleric—were killed after communal clashes broke out during the same religious procession. Since then, the administration has increased security preparedness for the annual event.
Efforts are underway to avoid a repeat of the 2023 incident, with the district police and civil administration coordinating closely to ensure the procession proceeds without disruption.
