Mohali, July 23: Police have apprehended a 17-year-old boy in connection with an armed robbery that took place at a nursery along Airport Road, Mohali, early Monday morning. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. at Khan Nursery, where the victim, a nursery worker, was residing.

According to the police, two individuals entered the premises and confronted the worker. One of the accused brandished a country-made pistol and demanded his belongings. The victim complied, handing over his mobile phone, after which both suspects fled the scene.

Following the robbery, the Balongi police launched an investigation and managed to trace and arrest the juvenile, who is also a resident of Balongi. During the arrest, the weapon used in the crime—a country-made pistol—was recovered.

“The juvenile has been taken into custody. Efforts are ongoing to locate the second accused who is currently absconding,” said a police official familiar with the case.

The arrested minor was produced before a local court and is being sent to a juvenile facility in Hoshiarpur for further questioning. Police have registered a case under Sections 309(4), 351(2), 331(6), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act at the Balongi Police Station.
