Patna, Aug 19— Former Union minister Nagmani, his wife and former Bihar minister Suchitra Sinha, and former IPS officer Anand Mishra joined the BJP on Tuesday, giving the party fresh momentum ahead of the Bihar assembly elections. The induction took place in the presence of state BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal.
Mishra, who resigned from the IPS before entering politics, said his priority was to strengthen the organisation. “I left my IPS job for this purpose. My only aim is to increase the strength of the party,” he said. When asked about contesting from the Buxar seat, Mishra avoided speculation, adding, “BJP’s victory from Buxar is certain, no matter who the candidate is.”
Nagmani, who served as a minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government, said he would work to consolidate the BJP in areas where the RJD had performed strongly in the last assembly polls. He expressed confidence that the NDA would return to power in the state.
Welcoming the new members, Jaiswal said their presence would “give more strength to the organisation.” Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, senior leader Vijay Kumar Sinha and other top functionaries were also present at the event.
