Alwar, Aug 19 — Rajasthan Police have arrested a woman and her lover for the murder of her husband in Tijara’s Kheirathal area, after the victim’s body was discovered inside a blue plastic drum on the roof of their rented house.
Superintendent of Police Manish Chaudhary said Laxmi Devi and her lover Jitendra Sharma, the son of the couple’s landlord, were detained Monday night from a brick kiln in Alwada village of Alwar district.
“Initial investigations indicate that Laxmi and Jitendra plotted the murder in a bid to conceal their affair. Hansram was killed on the night of August 15. The body was later found inside a blue plastic drum that Laxmi had borrowed from her landlord, saying it was for storing water,” Chaudhary said.
Police said the accused confessed to the crime after dumping the body and fleeing with Hansram’s three children. The children have since been handed over to their grandfather.
The case, registered at Kishangarhbas police station, came to light on Sunday when the body was recovered.
