Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, Sept. 4 — A massive landslide struck Kundooni village under the Jogindernagar subdivision of Mandi district on Thursday, destroying 10 houses and affecting 22 families. No human casualties were reported, though a cow was buried under debris, officials said.

Jogindernagar SDM Manish Chaudhary said the administration acted swiftly, reaching the site early in the morning and evacuating residents of the affected homes. “All affected families have been relocated to safer locations as a precautionary measure due to the continuing threat of further landslides,” he noted.

A temporary relief camp has been established at Soni Enclave Hotel in Bassi to accommodate displaced families. The camp is equipped with food and other necessary facilities, and special arrangements have been made for the shelter and care of livestock.

The administration has provided immediate financial assistance, giving a total of Rs 93,000 as emergency relief to families whose homes were completely destroyed. For eight families who opted to stay with relatives instead of the camp, ration kits have been distributed to meet daily needs.

A total of 77 individuals have been shifted to the relief camp, authorities said. Officials continue to monitor the area for further landslide threats and have urged residents to exercise caution.
