Shimla, Sept. 13 — Two men were killed late Friday night when their Bolero Camper rolled into a gorge in Nerwa of Shimla district’s Chopal subdivision, police said Saturday.

The victims were identified as Prajwal Tangdaik, 28, also known as Golu, and Jonti Banaik, 26, both residents of the Chandalok area. They were returning home when the accident occurred, officials said.

The bodies were pulled out with the help of local villagers. Police said searches were still underway to confirm whether more people were in the vehicle at the time. The remains will be handed over to the families after a post-mortem examination.

This incident adds to the rising toll of road crashes in Himachal Pradesh during the monsoon season. Since June 20, the state has recorded 168 deaths in traffic accidents, police data show. Lahaul and Spiti district has reported the highest number of fatalities at 28, followed by 25 in Shimla and 23 in Kullu.
