Chandigarh, Sept. 17 — With the festive season approaching, Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) has launched a preventive maintenance exercise across the city to minimize the risk of electricity breakdowns during celebrations.
The work, officials said, includes pruning trees, repairing monsoon-related damage, replacing worn-out cables, and conducting checks on transformers and feeders. Teams are also inspecting the overall distribution network to ensure it can handle the expected surge in demand.
“We want to ensure that residents enjoy an uninterrupted electricity supply during the festivities. The preventive maintenance now will go a long way in avoiding breakdowns later,” CPDL director Arun Kumar Verma said.
To facilitate the drive, scheduled power cuts are being carried out in different areas of the city. The utility said advance notices about the outages are being published in newspapers and updated on the CPDL website to minimize inconvenience to consumers.
Officials added that while the outages may cause short-term disruption, the proactive measures are aimed at strengthening the network and providing residents with a stable supply during the festive period.
