Multiple Fatalities in Separate Gujarat Traffic Incidents

Authorities Launch Inquiries as Death Toll Reaches 14

Ahmadabad, April 29: Tragedy struck Gujarat on Wednesday as two major road accidents in different parts of the state claimed 14 lives and injured dozens more. Law enforcement officials and medical teams remained on high alert throughout the day as they managed the aftermath of the collisions in Sabarkantha and Valsad.

The first incident took place on the Himmatnagar Highway near Gambhoi village, where a luxury bus collided with a smaller passenger vehicle. DSP AK Patel affirmed that six fatalities were recorded at the scene. He stated that the bus driver hit the car from the rear, likely as the smaller vehicle tried to utilize an illegal cut in the highway median. Medical officials maintained that while most survivors suffered minor injuries, several remains in critical condition and are receiving specialized care.

Later that afternoon, a pickup truck overturned in Valsad’s Kaprada district, resulting in eight deaths. Superintendent of Police Yuvraj Singh J. Jadeja asserted that the victims were traveling to a social gathering when the vehicle flipped. He declared that the deceased included two men, three women, and three children, while approximately 40 other occupants were injured in the rollover.

Official correspondence from the Prime Minister’s Office affirmed the government’s support for the victims, wishing the injured a quick recovery. Police declared that the highway collision in Sabarkantha and the vehicle overturn in Valsad highlight ongoing concerns regarding road safety and unauthorized turns on national corridors. Technical teams are currently examining the wreckage from both sites to finalize their reports.
