9 critically injured in stabbing on UK train; PM Starmer calls attack ‘appalling’

by TheReportingTimes

Cambridge, November 2 — A series of knife attacks on a Doncaster–London train left nine passengers critically injured on Saturday, in what British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described as an “appalling and deeply concerning” incident.

The violent episode unfolded aboard the 6:25 pm service to London King’s Cross and brought the train to a halt near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, after multiple distress calls reported passengers being stabbed.

Armed police stormed the carriages, tasering one suspect wielding a knife before arresting him along with another man. Footage from passengers showed officers surrounding the train at the platform as ambulances and air rescue teams rushed to the scene.

British Transport Police said counterterrorism officers are supporting their probe, though they cautioned it is “too early to determine” the motive.

Chief Superintendent Chris Casey said the priority was “to establish the full facts as quickly as possible,” adding that speculation at this stage would be inappropriate.

Emergency services treated nine people for life-threatening injuries, while several others were assessed on-site for trauma.

Starmer expressed solidarity with the victims, writing on X: “My thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response.”
