CHANDIGARH, Nov 27— Haryana’s Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel has released ₹9.23 crore in arrears owed to sanitation workers from 2017 to 2023, calling the move a step toward restoring dignity and financial justice for the workforce.

“The Chief Minister is committed to supporting those who keep our cities clean, and clearing these long-pending dues shows that,” Goel said at the Safai Mitra Samman and Constitution Day function.

The Municipal Corporation issued ₹7.87 crore in enhanced wage benefits to 840 workers and nearly ₹1 crore to beneficiaries from families of deceased, retired and former sanitation workers. Scholarships for children of sanitation workers were also handed out.

Goel led the gathering in taking the Constitution Day oath, saying the Constitution “remains the pride of the nation and a responsibility for every citizen.”

The ceremony ended with the felicitation of sanitation workers and students awarded scholarships.
