Panchkula, Dec 8: The Panchkula administration has launched a district-wide verification campaign to reconcile current voter entries with the 2002 electoral rolls, marking the first major step toward the special intensive revision scheduled this season.
District Election Officer Satpal Sharma said Booth Level Officers are visiting households to confirm whether present voters or their family members were listed in the 2002 rolls. “We are matching old records to ensure the voter list is updated and error-free. This is an important preparatory exercise,” he said.
According to officials, over 1,02,000 existing voters have already been matched with legacy records. The verification focuses on voters missing from the 2002 list but linked to parents or grandparents who were registered at the time.
Sharma encouraged residents to verify their family’s historical registration using the Election Commission’s online search facility and to provide clear information to BLOs during visits. “Sharing correct Assembly segment, polling station and serial number details helps us update the voter rolls without mistakes,” he said, adding that full cooperation will ensure eligible dependents are properly registered.
