Hyderabad. Dec 18: A police investigation has been launched into alleged lapses in crowd control at a film promotion event in Hyderabad after videos showed actor Nidhhi Agerwal being overwhelmed by fans while exiting a mall, authorities said.
The KPHB police registered a case against the organisers of the song-release event held at Lulu Mall after clips from Wednesday’s programme spread rapidly on social media. The footage shows the actor appearing distressed as fans pressed in from all sides, slowing her movement toward her car.
“The videos raised concerns about public safety,” a police officer said. “We are verifying whether organisers followed required norms while hosting the event.”
The incident took place during the launch of “Sahana Sahana,” a song from The Raja Saab. Despite being escorted, Agerwal is seen struggling to move through the crowd as security personnel attempt to clear a path.
The clips drew widespread reaction online, with users calling the scene “terrifying” and questioning the lack of effective crowd control. One social media user wrote that such behaviour crossed the line from fandom to harassment, while another described the incident as “scary and unacceptable.”
Police said further action would be decided after the investigation is completed.
