New Delhi, Dec 26: The body of an unidentified man was recovered from a drain in northeast Delhi’s Khajuri Khas area on Friday morning, police said.
According to officials, the deceased appears to be about 35 years old. Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and secured the area before summoning a forensic team.
“The forensic team examined the scene and collected material that may help determine how the man died,” a police officer said.
Following preliminary procedures, the body was sent to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital for an autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death and rule out any criminal involvement, police said.
A case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and efforts are underway to identify the deceased.
“We are checking CCTV cameras in the surrounding area, matching details with missing persons reports and sharing photographs with nearby police stations,” the officer added.
Police said further action will be taken based on the post-mortem findings.
