Leopard Sighting in Panchkula Follows Morni Encounter

by TheReportingTimes

Panchkula, Dec 27: A leopard entered a house in Panchkula’s Sector 6 on Friday, triggering panic among residents and prompting swift action by police and Forest Department officials, authorities said.

After receiving alerts from locals, teams rushed to the site and began efforts to track and capture the animal. The locality was sealed off to ensure public safety, while residents were asked not to step out unnecessarily.

“We are handling the situation with caution and taking all steps required for public safety,” a senior police official said. “People should avoid panic and follow advisories.”

The incident came a day after a leopard was spotted in Dabla village in the Shilyon area of Morni. In that case, a family noticed the animal’s presence during the night after their dog started barking. Officials said the leopard later retreated into the nearby forest without injuring anyone.

Forest officials said wildlife movement increases near human habitations due to shrinking forest cover and food scarcity.

“We have intensified patrolling and surveillance in sensitive zones,” a Forest Department official said. “Our priority is to prevent human-wildlife conflict.”

No injuries were reported in either incident.
