Chandigarh, Jan 13: The Haryana Special Task Force (STF) has achieved a series of breakthroughs in dismantling a complex terror-gangster nexus operated by foreign-based handlers. Through intelligence-led operations, the STF has neutralized several modules that were using local networks to carry out terror-linked activities across the region, including planned attacks on sensitive sites and police stations.
A pivotal moment in the campaign occurred in March 2025, when a joint operation with the Gujarat ATS foiled a potential attack on the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This led to the arrest of Abdul Rehman, also known as Abu Bakar, and the recovery of two hand grenades. The investigation expanded further in June 2025 after a live hand grenade was seized from two youths in Karnal, which authorities traced back to U.S.-based gangster Bhanu Rana.
“The dual approach of Haryana STF—curbing gang culture on digital platforms and simultaneously dismantling the terror–gangster nexus—is proving to be a milestone,” a senior official said. The official noted that the network’s depth was further revealed following a grenade attack on the Sirsa Women Police Station in late 2025. Technical analysis of financial channels and foreign communication led to the arrest of Amar Singh in Karnal.
During the arrest of Amar Singh, security forces recovered a foreign-made Glock pistol, two live hand grenades, and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). These seizures highlighted the serious nature of the threat posed by these foreign-handled modules. The STF mentioned that the coordination between local police and specialized units has been essential in tracking these sophisticated criminal structures.
The Haryana Police noted that they remain technologically equipped and operationally decisive in their mission to enhance internal security. By neutralizing these modules and cutting off their digital influence, the force aims to provide a safer environment for the public. Authorities said that strict actions will continue against any individuals or networks attempting to destabilize the state through local or foreign connections.
