MOHALI, Jan 17 — A focused police probe is active in Mohali after a suspected gangster issued a death threat against singer B Praak, demanding Rs 10 crore. The complaint was filed by Punjabi singer Dilnoor, who told investigators he was used as a conduit to deliver the ransom demand to the Bollywood star.
Dilnoor directly said that he received multiple calls from international numbers on Jan. 5 and 6. After a brief, suspicious conversation with the caller, he was sent an audio clip outlining the financial demand and a one-week timeline for compliance.
“The caller stated that Rs 10 crore must be paid within a week, otherwise B Praak would face serious harm,” the complaint noted.
The individual behind the call allegedly identified as Arju Bishnoi, an operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi group. Authorities mentioned that this pattern matches recent extortion cases in Delhi and Punjab, where threat calls from foreign-based associates are often followed by intimidation tactics.
Senior officers noted that they are working with cyber experts to verify the voice messages and the location of the overseas caller. Security around the artists is being reviewed as a precautionary measure while the technical surveillance continues.
