RISHIKESH, May 18, 2026 – The Gurdwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust has finalized arrangements for the launch of the 2026 dynamic pilgrimage season, with the initial jatha scheduled to move out toward the mountains on May 20.
The ceremonial flag-off at the Rishikesh complex will feature a high-level delegation, including Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (Retd.). The state administration noted that engineering and medical teams have been deployed along the route to provide a seamless transit infrastructure for the incoming seasonal travelers.
“This traditional send-off ceremony marks the commencement of the pilgrimage to the sacred Sri Hemkund Sahib, situated in the Himalayas,” an official press communication declared.
Organizers stated that the operational framework integrates rigorous safety protocols, adding that the presence of senior administrators ensures continuous coordination between security forces and shrine managers.
The event will mark the opening of the “Dastan-e-Sikhi” museum, an archival facility dedicated to preserving rare historical narratives and traditions for future generations. Trust administrators noted that the museum, alongside two newly curated texts on Sikh history, aims to enrich the spiritual awareness of the visiting public.
The ceremony will also include a special felicitation for Ranvir Singh Sachdeva, an eight-year-old coding specialist who has received commendations from global technology executives and head of states for his contributions to artificial intelligence systems. Community leaders noted that his achievements balance traditional values with cutting-edge technology tools.
Gurudwara Management Trust President Narendra Jeet Singh Bindra issued an open invitation to the global community to attend the launch events. Bindra asserted that the trust, in alignment with state municipal bodies, has established extensive lodging, food distribution, and emergency transit options to handle the heavy seasonal footfall safely.
