BJP leader calls for community action to restore state cultural identity

by TheReportingTimes

AMRITSAR, May 24, 2026 — BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh announced today that his party will launch a sustained campaign across all levels of governance to eliminate the drug menace in Punjab. Speaking at a public awareness event in the Central Assembly constituency, Chugh affirmed that the political organization is prepared to take the struggle from the streets to the legislative house to protect the state’s youth.

The event featured a unique community outreach strategy where residents were provided with lassi, curd, milk, and desi ghee. Organizers intended the distribution to serve as a cultural counter-narrative to substance abuse, urging the public to embrace the healthy lifestyle choices historically associated with the region.

Chugh maintained that the current situation is a direct consequence of long-term policy failures by prior administrations. He declared that the ongoing crisis has caused widespread emotional and economic distress for mothers and families throughout Punjab.

“Today, thousands of families are being destroyed due to drugs, mothers’ laps are becoming numb and the future of the youth is being pushed towards darkness,” Chugh asserted. “This is not just a program, but a campaign to save the soul of Punjab and the coming generations.”

The general secretary noted that the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is actively working to establish sustainable development opportunities for the younger generation. He referenced ongoing federal schemes focused on sports, education, and employment generation aimed at redirecting youth energy toward productive nation-building activities.

Chugh stated that the party views this mission as a social responsibility rather than a political tool. He declared that the public awareness drives will operate continuously, moving systematically through every street and household in the state.

“The real identity of Punjab lies in the teachings of the Gurus, the prosperity of the fields, sports culture and the energy of the youth, not with drugs,” Chugh affirmed.

Addressing the younger demographic directly, Chugh urged them to dedicate themselves to education, sports, and community service. He noted that the ultimate strength of the state rests upon the resilience of its hardworking population.

The launch concluded with an assembly-wide resolution, where attendees formally committed to fostering drug-free neighborhoods and guiding the youth toward positive lifestyle choices.
