Adampur, Feb 2: A local woman is in police custody after a video complaining about road closures during the Prime Minister’s visit to Jalandhar went viral for its use of objectionable language. Hardeep Kaur was apprehended by the Adampur police on Monday morning after her social media post was flagged for hurting religious sentiments.

The incident is linked to the Prime Minister’s visit to Dera Sachkhand Ballan on Sunday to meet with Sant Niranjan Dass. In her post, Kaur stated that the heavy security presence and blocked routes prevented her from getting medical supplies for her ailing daughter. However, the language used in the clip against the Dera chief and the Prime Minister sparked a backlash from the local community.

The Ravidassia community filed a formal complaint on Sunday night, leading to the registration of an FIR for malicious acts intended to insult religious beliefs. The police moved to make the arrest after demonstrators voiced their concerns regarding the potential for social unrest.

“She tried to incite religious controversy and provoke people, which led to her arrest,” directly said Inspector Ravinder Pal, SHO of Adampur. The inspector mentioned that the police are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the video and its distribution.
