Chandigarh, Feb 13: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) gained significant political momentum in Punjab on Friday as Sardar Amarjeet Singh Kokri Kalan, a senior leader from the BJP, joined the party. Amarjeet Singh, who held the position of State Financial Secretary for the BJP SC Wing, was officially inducted by Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema in Chandigarh.
Welcoming the new member on behalf of the party leadership, Cheema noted that Singh’s decision to switch sides stems from the effective governance model currently being implemented in the state. The induction is seen as a boost for AAP in the Nihal Singh Wala region, where Singh has maintained a strong local presence following his service in the military.
“His entry into AAP reflects the growing public trust in the work being done by the government led by Bhagwant Singh Mann,” Cheema mentioned during the induction ceremony.
Several local leaders, including sarpanches and panches, followed Singh into the party. Cheema noted that the newcomers were particularly influenced by welfare initiatives such as the provision of 300 units of free electricity and the comprehensive health insurance scheme.
“The Aam Aadmi Party is the only organization that genuinely stands with the common man and delivers on its promises,” the Minister directly said.
The party leadership assured the new entrants that their experience would be utilized effectively. Cheema noted that as a former serviceman, Singh brings a level of dedication that aligns with the party’s focus on honesty and public welfare.
