Mansa, March 5: A 48-year-old real estate investor and his gardener were murdered in Sardulgarh over a suspected past rivalry, according to the Mansa police. Investigators have taken Gurpreet Singh into custody, alleging he carried out the attack to avenge his father’s death, which occurred under unexplained circumstances three years prior.

The victims, Jasvir Kumar and Baldev Singh, were found dead at a farmhouse located on the outskirts of the town. SP (Investigation) Manmohan Singh Aulakh noted that the police successfully cracked the “blind murder” case by narrowing down suspects living in the immediate vicinity of the Sheller Road property.

“Though the matter was not reported to the police, he was nursing a grudge over the issue,” the SP stated regarding the suspect’s motive.

The investigation revealed that the gardener was likely not the primary target but was eliminated to prevent him from identifying the assailant. SP Aulakh affirmed that the weapon used in the dual homicide, an axe, was recovered based on information provided during the interrogation.

“The safety of the residents is a priority, and multiple police teams were constituted to ensure the case was solved using scientific methods,” the police official declared.

The authorities maintained that the accused had remained under the radar for years regarding his suspicions but finally acted on his grievances this past week. The police stated that the arrest brings a conclusion to the initial phase of the investigation.
