Industrialists hail Punjab as emerging manufacturing hub

JSW Group and Hero Enterprise commend state’s economic reforms

SAS NAGAR, March 13, 2026 — Punjab is rapidly transitioning from an agrarian powerhouse to a vibrant industrial destination, according to top global business leaders attending the 2026 Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit. Executives from JSW Group, Hero Enterprise, and the Trident Group declared that the state’s proactive governance has made it one of India’s most favorable investment locations.

Sajjan Jindal, Chairman of the JSW Group, announced a ₹3,000 crore investment to expand the capacity of the group’s Rajpura steel plant. He asserted that Punjab is emerging as a major industrial hub due to the progressive policies introduced by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Jindal maintained that the spirit of entrepreneurship inherent in the local population is now being supported by a stable and supportive administrative framework.

“The growth of Punjab in the industrial sector is unprecedented and unmatched,” stated Trident Group Chairman Rajinder Gupta. He affirmed that the state is on a path to return to the top ten industrial states in the country, citing a “new dawn” for manufacturing and high-tech sectors.

Hero Enterprise Chairman Sunil Kant Munjal also noted the state’s serious efforts to regain its leading economic position. He stated that the government’s focus on technology, education, and healthcare is creating a holistic environment that benefits various sectors. Munjal asserted that the current global reputation of Indian industry provides a unique opportunity for Punjab to accelerate its growth momentum.

The event featured several major announcements, including ArcelorMittal’s ₹26,000 crore petrochemical complex, which officials declared would significantly boost the MSME sector. Industry leaders maintained that the collaboration between the private sector and the state government is essential for building a prosperous “Rangla Punjab.”
