Chandigarh, Oct 31: The ruling Aam Aadmi Party kicked off its election preparations for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections by announcing 40 candidates in its opening list. Confirmed by senior leadership during a PAC meeting on Saturday, the roster retains Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann from Dhuri and Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan from Kotkapura, alongside minister Sanjeev Arora for Ludhiana West.

The list covers key constituencies across the state, featuring prominent figures such as Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal (Ajnala), Bram Shanker Sharma Jimpa (Hoshiarpur), Dinesh Chadha (Ropar), and Kulwant Singh (Mohali). Four female leaders—Inderjit Kaur Mann, Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora, Santosh Kataria, and Baljinder Kaur—were also fielded to represent their respective districts.

Speaking on the early rollout, Chief Minister Mann affirmed that candidate declarations give nominees ample lead time to connect with local electorates based on welfare programs and governance outcomes. Party leadership added that nominations for remaining constituencies and other cabinet colleagues will be disclosed in subsequent updates as election strategies progress.
