Gurugram, April 9: A major reshuffle of 15 Indian Administrative Service officers has been ordered by the Haryana government, resulting in the appointment of Uttam Singh as the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram. Singh moves to the industrial hub from his prior posting in Karnal, taking over for outgoing Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar.

The transition marks a broader effort by the state to restructure its bureaucratic framework. Government officials maintained that these changes are vital for maintaining administrative efficiency and ensuring that district leadership is periodically refreshed. Kumar, the outgoing official, has been shifted to serve as Deputy Principal Secretary-II to the Chief Minister.

The reshuffle involves strategic reassignments across several districts, focusing on improving the delivery of public services and strengthening the state’s executive branch. “These transfers are part of an ongoing effort to optimize the performance of the civil services and address the evolving needs of our districts,” an official spokesperson stated.

In his new capacity, Singh will navigate the unique challenges of Gurugram’s rapid growth, specifically focusing on the city’s infrastructure and civic coordination. His arrival is anticipated to bring a renewed focus on local governance in one of the state’s most critical economic zones. The government asserted that the shifts are intended to ensure a more robust and responsive administration for the people of Haryana.
