Heatwave relief for ‘men in khaki’ as Moga police distribute portable cooling kits

Departmental morale rises as frontline staff receive essential supplies for summer shifts

MOGA, MAY 6 — Frontline police officers in Moga have received a significant logistical boost with the distribution of cooling equipment designed to combat the ongoing heatwave. The Moga police administration has prioritized the health of its field staff by providing ice boxes and water coolers to ensure that those maintaining law and order remain protected from UV rays and extreme heat.

The department stated that the initiative targets officers who lack access to permanent structures or shade while on duty. Personnel stationed at busy junctions noted that having access to cold water and preserved meals is a necessity that often becomes a luxury during the peak of summer.

“Having a dedicated ice box means we don’t have to leave our posts to search for cold water or rely on the heat-stricken supply we carry in plastic bottles,” an officer stationed in the city stated. The administration affirmed that the move is intended to acknowledge the human cost of police work and to improve the physical comfort of personnel working 8 to 12-hour shifts.

SSP Ajay Gandhi affirmed the department’s commitment to officer welfare, stating that additional measures are in the pipeline as the mercury continues to rise. He maintained that the use of the Police Welfare Fund for this purpose ensures that basic necessities are met for those most exposed to environmental stressors. The leadership declared that by addressing these physical challenges, the department aims to sustain high morale and ensure the continued safety of the public.
