CHANDIGARH, MAY 7 — A potential gang-related murder in Tarn Taran was averted on Monday after the Chandigarh Police intercepted a minor being groomed by overseas gangsters. The teenager, a resident of Punjab, was allegedly acting under the direct instructions of foreign-based criminals Prabh Dasuwal and Gurvinder Singh to eliminate a rival in the town of Patti.

Police officials stated that the minor was lured into the criminal underworld via Instagram in March. The gangsters reportedly exploited a personal grievance the boy held after a local altercation, offering him the “force” necessary for revenge. During his involvement, the gang provided him with funds and pressured him to create fake social media profiles to help recruit other vulnerable youth. The minor had previously stayed with gang affiliates in Khemkaran, where he witnessed a shooting at a medical shop after refusing to pull the trigger himself.

“Chandigarh Police will not allow this city to become a recruiting ground or operational base for any gang or syndicate, foreign or domestic,” affirmed DGP Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda. He declared that the department’s zero-tolerance policy toward organized crime remains unwavering. He noted that the capture of the minor was a result of heightened vigilance and technical analysis by the Operations Cell.

Due to his status as a minor, the student was handed over to his family following his detention. The police affirmed that the case has been shared with Punjab authorities to further the investigation into the local gang members, Love Bhatti and Aman Sharma. Officials declared that the focus now remains on the rehabilitation of the youth, emphasizing that timely police intervention saved him from a path of permanent criminality.
