NEW DELHI, May 15 — Medical aspirants will appear for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21, the National Testing Agency confirmed on Friday. The revised schedule comes after the original May 3 examination was scrapped due to reports of a “guess paper” matching actual test questions circulating on social media days before the event.
To facilitate the re-test, the Union Education Ministry has announced that candidates will be allowed to update their exam city preferences. The ministry stated that no fresh registration is necessary and that the agency will utilize its internal resources to conduct the exam without charging students any additional fees.
“The inputs received by NTA establish that the present examination process could not be allowed to stand,” the agency declared while announcing the cancellation. Officials affirmed that the CBI is currently investigating the matter, having already taken several suspects into custody in connection with the paper leak.
The NTA noted that fresh admit cards will include updated reporting times and specific instructions to prevent further irregularities. Candidates have been advised to avoid rumors and verify all information through the official NTA portal. The agency maintained that the re-test is a critical step in ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all students seeking admission to MBBS and BDS courses.
