Government reshuffles Majitha municipal leadership following poll panel directive

by TheReportingTimes

MAJITHA, May 17 —State local government division has replaced the executive officer overseeing the Municipal Council Majitha following a regulatory intervention by the State Election Commission.

Executive Officer Randeep Singh Waraich has been officially divested of his additional jurisdiction over the Majitha civic body, returning exclusively to his primary posting at Tarn Taran. The state has concurrently appointed Executive Officer Anil Chopra to assume administrative control over the vacancy.

The regulatory transition follows growing political scrutiny over the processing of mandatory candidate documentation within the district. Government trackers maintained that the personnel swap aims to stabilize local operations and ensure a transparent framework before voting commences. The official directive from Secretary of Local Government Manjit Singh Brar mandates that the incoming executive officer formally take charge of the municipal office by May 18, following the explicit guidelines set forth by the state’s independent election monitoring body.

The timing of the bureaucratic change has drawn sharp commentary from regional political organizations involved in the local campaigns. Representatives from the Shiromani Akali Dal stated that the move confirms their previous assertions regarding administrative partiality within the town council. Bikram Singh Majithia affirmed that the incumbent party had utilized the office to create structural obstacles for rival candidates seeking necessary clearances. He declared that the immediate removal of the administrator validates the ongoing objections raised by opposition parties regarding the integrity of the local election process.
