Patiala, August 22: Canadian police face growing calls from international community members and grieving relatives to solve the murder of Taranpreet Singh Sidhu, a driver whose body was discovered shortly after he returned from an interstate commercial run.

The twenty-nine-year-old victim had built a life in Canada over eight years, transitioning from an international student to a permanent resident by 2022. The fatal encounter occurred on July 15, when unidentified attackers ambushed Sidhu at a truck terminal shortly after he arrived from the United States. Search teams subsequently located his remains inside a lake situated near Fruitland Road in the Stoney Creek area.

His family recently concluded final rites in Canada and held memorial prayers at their Patiala residence, where they appealed publicly for decisive law enforcement action.

Family spokespersons stated that they maintain contact with Hamilton Police investigators, expressing hope that law enforcement teams will quickly establish a motive, locate suspects, and secure convictions.

The family further called upon Canadian leaders to take firmer preventative measures regarding crimes targeting Indian citizens, stressing that systemic violence against immigrants requires rigorous protection and swift justice.
