Chandigarh, July 18: Regional law enforcement agencies have appealed to the public for video evidence after declaring the death of a Brampton-based truck driver a homicide. Taranpreet Singh Sidhu, who previously spent time in Halifax after arriving from India four years ago, was found dead in a shallow water channel in the Stoney Creek area. Detective teams are focusing on identifying individuals who interacted with the victim prior to mid-week.
The active search area has expanded as detectives process digital records and perform community interviews to trace the victim’s travel history. While the physical recovery took place in Hamilton, intelligence units maintain that the primary crime scene is located in a different sector.
A formal briefing from the investigating agency confirmed that the cause of death is being preserved as protected data while field operations continue.
“Following the initial investigation, detectives have confirmed Mr Sidhu’s death is the result of a homicide,” the Hamilton Police Service stated, adding that technical analysis of digital artifacts remains ongoing.
The logistical elements of the victim’s relocation remain under strict review, with officers declining to publish descriptions of the automobile involved in the transit. Investigative units from neighboring districts have joined the effort to secure witnesses across the Greater Toronto Area.
A tracking coordinator maintained that residential security files could provide the necessary breakthrough for the case.
“Detectives are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have surveillance, dash camera, or doorbell camera footage that could assist the investigation,” the homicide division declared, directing communications toward their dedicated tips department.
