CHANDIGARH, MAY 22 — High-temperature warnings will remain in place across the plains of Haryana despite a federal forecast predicting scattered thunderstorms and lightning over the next 24 hours, weather officials declared Friday.
The meteorological department issued an orange heatwave alert for 16 districts, urging citizens to take preventative health measures as maximum temperatures stay well above normal markers. The weather pattern coincides with an incoming pocket of unstable air that brought dust storms to neighboring Punjab territories.
“The conditions of heatwave will persist for the next few days,” Chandigarh IMD Director Surender Paul stated in a regional briefing. He affirmed that the anticipated precipitation would offer only brief windows of cooler weather before baseline seasonal maximums return.
The official registry showed Sirsa logging the state’s highest temperature at 45.8 degrees Celsius during the current peak. While northern zones like Ambala and Panchkula prepare for immediate thunderstorm activity, central and southern zones face sustained exposure to extreme heat, transitioning to a statewide orange alert into early next week.
Medical guidelines issued by the state focus heavily on protecting vulnerable populations from thermal stress. Health experts noted that individuals performing heavy labor outdoors during peak solar hours face elevated risks of dehydration and heat exhaustion.
The state department of agriculture has issued targeted directives to rural districts to mitigate crop damage. Cultivators are encouraged to finish preparing their paddy nurseries under assured watering frameworks and to implement moisture retention protocols to stabilize newly sown summer fields.
