GURUGRAM, MAY 30 — A midnight gun battle on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway culminated in the capture of two contract shooters linked to international extortion rings active across the National Capital Region.
The confrontation developed near Saharwan village when Gurugram Crime Branch officers attempted to intercept a motorcycle lacking license plates. The two riders refused to stop, leading to an aggressive highway pursuit that quickly escalated into an exchange of fire after the fleeing suspects targeted the pursuing police vehicles.
“Upon seeing the police team, the accused opened fire on them,” an official police report noted, verifying that multiple bullets damaged a police transport vehicle during the initial phase of the pursuit.
The tactical teams returned fire, discharging roughly a dozen rounds collectively to neutralize the threat. Both suspects sustained disabling injuries to their lower limbs, causing them to lose control of their vehicle before being pinned down by the advancing Crime branch cordon.
Following their arrest, the suspects were identified by local investigators as Karan and Pravesh, both originating from the Kanjhawala area of neighboring Delhi. At the scene, forensic and field teams seized a standard pistol along with the motorcycle used during the escape attempt.
The department noted that both men maintain extensive regional criminal records involving severe violent offenses. Officers stated that the captured individuals are active operational assets for the overseas-based Himanshu Bhau gang network, with tracking data placing them at the center of an open investigation regarding a recent firearm assault inside Delhi’s Mundka market sector.
