Vadodara, June 17: A major road accident on the Vadodara-Halol highway resulted in six fatalities and left twenty individuals injured after a luxury passenger bus collided with a stationary truck near Kotambi village. The overnight bus was transporting passengers from Rajasthan to Surat when it struck the back of the freight vehicle at approximately 4 am. National Disaster Response Force teams joined local police forces at the scene to assist in extracting survivors from the heavily damaged wreckage.

Preliminary reports indicate that the truck driver had pulled over to the side of the road to check his vehicle’s tire pressure when the incoming bus struck it from behind. The force of the high-speed impact demolished the front half of the bus, trapping several occupants inside the passenger cabin.

Vadodara Superintendent of Police Sushil Agrawal declared that medical teams responded immediately to care for the victims. “The impact of the collision was severe, and the front portion of the bus was completely crushed,” the Superintendent of Police affirmed. “The injured were shifted to hospitals.”

First responders from the Jarod police station secured the perimeter and coordinated with state medical authorities to ensure the injured received swift transportation to area hospitals. Most of the individuals traveling on the transit route have been identified as residents of Rajasthan.

The Superintendent of Police asserted that specialized disaster response personnel were essential to completing the extraction process safely. “Considering the extent of damage to the bus, teams of the National Disaster Response Force were also called to assist in the rescue efforts,” the official maintained, noting that formal inquiries are ongoing to determine if speed or poor visibility contributed to the tragedy.

The local administration is working alongside interstate transport coordinators to assist the families of the victims as hospital staff continue providing medical treatment to the twenty injured survivors.
