Cyber Cell Tracks Ambala Resident Over Instagram Bomb Threats

by TheReportingTimes

Dehradun, June 29: A joint operation by the Uttarakhand Police and digital forensic teams resulted in the arrest of an Ambala resident who allegedly threatened to destroy multiple police stations. Tracking the suspect via digital footprints, investigators identified the individual behind an Instagram post that warned of coordinated attacks. The suspect was taken into custody on Sunday evening and presented before a judicial court the following day.

The scare began when a social media post warned that law enforcement hubs would be targeted on June 25. Dehradun City SP Parmod Kumar asserted that the threat was tracked back to an account operated by a youth named Jaspreet. “Our teams executed a swift raid after pinpointing the suspect’s location, neutralizing his plans to evade direct arrest through a legal surrender,” declared SP Kumar.

The suspect maintained during questioning that specific organizations had influenced his actions, with investigators linking the digital threat to the recent events in Karnprayag. The case forms part of a broader pattern of recent electronic threats received by the state’s security apparatus.

In a related development, a separate high-stakes probe is underway regarding a bomb threat sent via email to public locations. Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police Navneet Singh affirmed that specialized anti-sabotage teams, including dog squads, have been continuously scanning prominent temples and municipal offices. Local administrative officers declared that the Special Task Force is actively identifying the IP addresses used to send the emails to ensure public safety remains uncompromised.
