Chandigarh, July 2: The Aam Aadmi Party secured a substantial organizational boost in Mukerian as a coalition of senior village heads and opposition strategists defected from their respective parties. The structural shift was formalized during an official entry ceremony led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, where leaders pledged their grassroots support to the current administration.
The defection significantly weakens the Congress party’s local rural network, as multiple sitting sarpanches commanded significant personal followings across the block. The inductees included Sarpanch Anil Thakur, Sarpanch Tajinder Pal Singh, Sarpanch Lakhvir Singh, Beant Singh Randhawa, Poonam Rattu, Rajesh Rattu, and Sher Singh Shera. In a parallel blow to the Shiromani Akali Dal, their former assembly candidate Sarbjot Singh Sabi also migrated to the ruling party along with his core supporters.
The incoming political figures declared that the performance of the state government left them with little doubt regarding their political alignment. They affirmed that the transparent, welfare-oriented initiatives managed by the Chief Minister provided a clear roadmap for the state’s development.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann maintained that the voluntary influx of grassroots workers showcases an evolving trust in state policies. “The continuous expansion of the AAP family reflects the growing trust of the people in the party’s policies and the work being done by the Punjab government,” the Chief Minister asserted.
The migration of these established figures is anticipated to streamline the implementation of state welfare initiatives, converting existing local networks into direct channels for government communication.
Welcoming the cadre, Chief Minister Mann declared that the party’s core values continue to cut across traditional party lines. “AAP’s people-centric governance, honest politics, and commitment to Punjab’s development are attracting leaders and workers from across the political spectrum,” he stated.
