Shimla, July 4: The State Meteorological Centre has placed eight districts of Himachal Pradesh under a yellow weather alert as heavy downpours are projected to continue across the region on Saturday. Local authorities have advised residents to stay cautious due to the changing conditions.
The administrative alert covers Shimla, Kullu, Kangra, Mandi, Bilaspur, Kinnaur, Chamba, and Lahaul and Spiti. Weather experts indicated that these specific areas are highly likely to witness light to moderate precipitation along with isolated intense spells throughout the day.
Meteorological officials declared that the wet weather would likely be accompanied by sudden thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in the designated pockets. Regarding temperature trends, the department maintained that minimum temperatures are expected to hover close to the seasonal normal, with no drastic fluctuations on the horizon.
Regional records show that Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti registered the lowest temperature at 11.2 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Shimla recorded a minimum of 18.4 degrees Celsius, Dharamshala sat at 20.5 degrees Celsius, and Manali clocked 17.2 degrees Celsius, while other major stations like Kangra and Bilaspur recorded 21.8 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively.
