KULLU, July 15 — A promotional campaign on social media platforms including Facebook and X has announced an upcoming music gathering in the Parbati Valley, bypassing recent judicial crackdowns on similar forest parties. The scheduled gathering is set to take place in the Pulga region in early September, offering public access to dynamic music sessions within the local woodlands.
Local police officials stated that they have no formal record or notification regarding the advertised assembly. The administrative oversight comes just weeks after the Himachal Pradesh High Court expressed deep dissatisfaction with local governance, suggesting possible oversight failures after a massive commercial gathering near Kasol. The court had previously ordered the immediate shifting of top district officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and the regional police chief, alongside ordering a specialized inquiry into the previous events where high-priced tickets were sold to thousands of attendees.
Kullu Superintendent of Police Madan Lal Kaushal declared that strict enforcement measures are currently active to preserve order in the valley. The district police chief affirmed that deputy superintendents and station house officers are keeping a close watch on social media platforms and public advertisements to identify such events. He maintained that field patrols have been intensified to ensure no unauthorized activities take place without proper legal sanctions.
The history of the region shows a steady influx of domestic and international visitors drawn to remote forest pockets. Former Nasha Nivaran Board convener OP Sharma asserted that the remote geography provides logistical challenges for enforcement teams, frequently giving organizers ample time to dismantle operations before inspections occur. Sharma stated that the gatherings have grown substantially over the decades, transitioning into highly organized commercial ventures that hide behind the label of cultural festivals to secure initial administrative clearances.
