With Baba Farid University of Health Sciences initiating seat allotments, families of qualifying students have raised objections to pledging real estate as financial backing for compulsory state service.
Detailing the impact on admitted students, parent groups declared that public medical education should remain accessible to all meritorious candidates regardless of property ownership. Observers maintained that binding immovable assets for seven and a half years creates severe administrative and financial stress for candidates who have secured seats through high NEET ranks.
The policy mandates that candidates signing the 20-lakh rupee service bond provide two property sureties of 20 lakh rupees each to guarantee post-study service in state health institutions. The encumbrance covers the full academic term, internship, and mandatory service period.
Medical Education and Research Director Dr. Avinish Kumar affirmed that administrative procedures follow existing legal guidelines, adding that students have alternative means to fulfill the surety conditions. Affected families continue to seek immediate directives from state authorities to prevent financial constraints from disrupting student admissions.
